Star Ratings

September 24, 2019

Dear Legacy families,

The State of Nevada uses the Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF), a five-star classification system for public schools that assesses student learning progress, school quality, instructional practices, and is helpful to parents in informing school selection. Star ratings are based on a number of factors, included among them are academic proficiency and growth on state assessments, English language proficiency, chronic absenteeism, and student engagement.

Last week, Legacy Traditional School – Cadence received its 2018-2019 star rating. It was two stars.

Now in our second year, and our first round of ratings, we are confident in our plan to support and increase the school’s academic achievement and student engagement. Our academic team continues to improve and expand its academic support strategies, which are designed to support and increase the academic growth of our students. This includes, but is not limited to, additional classroom bell work and after school tutoring, which I strongly believe will allow our school to improve our star rating in the future.

Additionally, as parents, you can help your child succeed at Legacy Traditional School by minimizing their absences and staying in regular communication with his or her teacher(s). If there are subjects or homework that your child is struggling with, please reach out to their teacher. Your child’s teacher(s) will be able to share strategies that you can leverage at home, or recommend your child receive additional tutoring support.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns about Legacy’s rating and the efforts we are making to grow and improve in our second school year.

Sincerely,
Eve Breier-Ramos, Ed.D.
Deputy Superintendent
